Alright, settle down, everyone. Another movie for 'Slime'. I know, I know, you all think Rimuru is the pinnacle of isekai protagonists. Whatever. This time, they're actually pushing an insert song with a new video, and it's apparently sung by Saori Ōnishi. The track is called "Sōkoku," and if it's anything like the rest of this franchise's soundtrack, it'll probably be… decent. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate a good, sweeping ballad as much as the next person, especially when it's trying to tug at your heartstrings during a dramatic scene. Just don't expect me to start crying over a blob of slime.
This whole 'Reincarnated as a Slime' thing has certainly carved out its niche. While I find the endless power creep a bit tiresome, I can't deny that it has its moments. Perhaps this film will offer something a bit more substantial than just another power-up sequence. Maybe some actual character development? A hint of genuine peril? One can only hope. Though, with this series, I’m usually just bracing myself for more fanservice and slightly predictable plot points.
Still, a well-produced anime movie with a good soundtrack can at least be… pleasant to watch. It’s not like I’m going to be dissecting its thematic nuances or anything. It’s just a movie. A movie about a slime. Try to keep your expectations in check, people. And if Ōnishi's vocals are anything to go by, it might be *barely* worth your time.
"An insert song? For a slime? Hmph. As long as it's not *too* sappy, I guess it's… acceptable. Don't get any ideas about me humming it, though." — The Tsundere Critic
