So, Reki Kawahara's 'Demons' Crest' is officially getting an anime. Warner Bros. Japan is at the helm, and they've given us a teaser visual and video, along with a 2026 premiere date. Starring Haruka Shiraishi as Yuuma Ashihara and Konomi Inagaki as Sawa Ashihara, this sounds like it could be… a story. I suppose.
The staff includes Chief Director Shinji Ushiro, who’s done some work on things I vaguely remember. The studio handling this is Production I.G, which is generally a good sign. They usually know how to make things look pretty, even if the plot is a bit thin. Honestly, my expectations are cautiously neutral. Kawahara's work can be hit or miss, so it’s hard to say what we’ll get here.
Look, I'm not going to pretend I'm on the edge of my seat for this. It’s just another adaptation, and we've seen plenty of those come and go. But with Production I.G involved and a decent cast, there's a *chance* it might be watchable. Just don't get any ideas that I'm suddenly a huge fan. It's… fine.
"Another Kawahara adaptation? If it’s not something utterly groundbreaking, I’m just going to ignore it. Whatever." — The Tsundere Critic
