Honestly, I wasn't expecting this one to wrap up so soon. Oshimi's "Sound of a Blink" has been... a thing. Launched in December 2024, this isn't some flashy battle shonen, it's a raw, introspective look at growing up. And now it's ending in a blink of an eye, pun *absolutely* intended. Two chapters left. That's it. I suppose that's one way to keep things concise, though I always wonder if these stories could have gone on a bit longer, exploring those messy, awkward phases of life.
It's always a bit of a shock when a series ends, especially one that feels so personal. Oshimi has a knack for tapping into those uncomfortable truths, the kind we’d rather pretend don’t exist. This memoir manga, therefore, felt like it had the potential to linger, to let readers really sit with the uncomfortable bits. But, alas, all things must come to an end, even the painfully honest ones. I guess we'll just have to see how it all ties up, or doesn't, in the final installments. Don't expect me to shed tears, though. I'm not that sentimental. Probably.
What this means for Oshimi's future work remains to be seen. Will he delve into another personal narrative, or perhaps shock us all with something completely different? One can only speculate. For now, the focus is on finishing "Sound of a Blink." It’s a good reminder that not every story needs hundreds of chapters to make an impact. Sometimes, a well-told, shorter narrative can hit just as hard, if not harder. I'll probably check it out. Eventually.
"Hmph. So it's ending already? I guess some stories just don't have the stamina for a long haul. Whatever." — The Tsundere Critic
