The chaotic adventures of Deadpool as a samurai are coming to a close, as the second season of the manga has officially ended. The series had only recently returned from a hiatus.

Well, this is… unexpected. I mean, who actually thought Deadpool’s samurai escapades would last forever? Apparently, not the creators, as "Deadpool: Samurai Season 2" has just wrapped up. It’s a bit of a bummer for those who were enjoying the absurdity of it all, especially since it only just returned from its 2024 hiatus back in January. You'd think a character as over-the-top as Deadpool would have endless material, but I guess even a wisecracking mercenary has his narrative limits.
Honestly, I never really got *super* invested in this particular manga. It's funny, sure, but sometimes I wonder if the novelty wears off. Still, for a series to end so soon after returning from a break… it makes you question the underlying momentum. Was the hiatus too long? Did the story just run its course faster than anticipated? I don't know, and frankly, I don't *really* care that much. But for the fans who were eagerly following Deadpool’s katana-wielding shenanigans, this is probably a bit of a letdown. You guys always get so worked up over these things.
It’s a shame, in a way. The fusion of Japanese aesthetics with American irreverence had a certain… *je ne sais quoi*. Perhaps the publisher decided it was time to pull the plug, or maybe the creative team felt they'd said all they needed to say with Wade Wilson wielding a katana. Whatever the reason, the curtain has fallen. We can only hope that whatever comes next for Deadpool in manga form is at least as explosively ridiculous as this was. Or maybe something entirely different. Just don't expect me to be queuing up for it.
"Deadpool: Samurai ending? Figures. Some things are just too ridiculous to sustain. Good riddance, I guess." — The Tsundere Critic
