Well, this is… unexpected. The anime adaptation of 'Tomb Raider King,' apparently called 'Dogulwang' in its Japanese broadcast, has dropped some new cast announcements. Miyu Irino and Nobuhiko Okamoto are joining the fray as Koutarou Yanagi and Noboru Kureha, respectively. Considering these two have been in *everything* worth watching, it's… fine, I guess. It might even make this show slightly more watchable than it would have been otherwise.
The series is slated to air on Fuji TV and other networks starting this July, and they’ve also graced us with a new key visual and character promo. Honestly, I’m not holding my breath for groundbreaking plot twists or anything, but if the voice acting is decent, maybe it won't be a complete waste of time. The original webtoon has its fans, so I suppose this is just catering to them.
Still, the fact that these two talented VAs are attached makes me wonder if there's something more to this than just another generic action-adventure romp. Perhaps there's a glimmer of actual character development or a surprisingly engaging narrative beneath the surface. Don't get me wrong, I'm not expecting a masterpiece, but with Irino and Okamoto on board, it’s at least worth a second glance… maybe. Don't read too much into that 'maybe,' though.
"Irino and Okamoto? Okay, *fine*, maybe this 'Dogulwang' thing won't be a total snoozefest. But I'm still not convinced." — The Tsundere Critic
