Here we go again, another anime adaptation is rolling out the details. 'Kuroneko to Majo no Kyoushitsu,' or 'The Classroom of a Black Cat and a Witch,' has given us a peek at its supporting cast and dropped a second promotional video. Kana Hanazawa is lending her voice to Jeanne, which is… fine. And Show Hayami is on board as Justice Libra. At this point, I’m just waiting to see if there’s anything genuinely interesting here, or if it’s just more of the same.
The anime is scheduled to run for two consecutive cours, so it’s going to be a commitment. Premiering in April, it’s another entry into the already crowded Spring season. The promotional video is out, presumably showcasing the magical goings-on and the characters’ dramatic pronouncements. I’m trying to keep an open mind, but the title alone makes me weary of predictable magical girl tropes. Still, Yosuke Kaneda’s manga is getting this attention, so perhaps there’s substance beneath the surface.
Honestly, the world of anime is so saturated these days, it’s hard to get excited about every new show. But I suppose for fans of the original manga, this is big news. They’ve got the voice talent, they’ve got the promotional material, and they’ve got a premiere date. What more could they ask for? I’ll probably check it out eventually, when all the *real* drama has died down, and I can watch it without any expectations. It’s the smart way to do it, you know.
