Honestly, I wasn't expecting much from another anime churning out generic tropes, but these theme songs for Yowayowa Sensei… they’re actually not bad. Daoko’s “COMIT COMET” sounds like it’s got some genuine punch to it, and the cast’s effort on “Yowayowa Tsuyotsuyo Minimini Kowakowa” – okay, I admit the title is ridiculous – hints at a level of commitment I didn't foresee.
It’s easy to dismiss these things as just filler, another box to tick for the production schedule. But a well-crafted opening or ending can set the mood, can hint at the emotional core of a series that might otherwise be overlooked. These tracks have a certain… *oomph*. It’s almost as if they’re trying to convey something beyond just catchy melodies. Almost.
Call me a softie, but when a production puts this much care into its auditory presentation, it makes me wonder what else they're hiding. Maybe there's actual substance behind the flash. Don't get me wrong, I'm not going to suddenly declare this a masterpiece based on a song, but it's a surprisingly strong start. Don't expect me to gush, though. Hmph.
"Ugh, fine, the music isn't the worst thing I've heard. It's just… good. Don't expect me to admit it's *great* or anything." — The Tsundere Critic
