‘You and I Are Polar Opposites.’ Episode 9. The review is… not exactly glowing. It seems the central couple, Miyu and Tani, are as cute as ever. Bless their little cotton socks. But apparently, their adorableness isn't quite enough to prop up the entire show. This episode apparently ‘reaffirms’ to the reviewer that they, as a pair, can’t quite ‘carry this whole show on their own.’ Ouch.
Look, I’m all for romance. I’m even willing to admit that sometimes, a truly captivating couple can be the anchor of an entire series. They can make you overlook plot holes, forgive predictable tropes, and just genuinely invest in their happiness. But if the review is to be believed, Miyu and Tani, while undeniably cute, are starting to feel like the only thing holding this anime together. And when the foundation starts to crack, even the cutest couples can’t save it.
It’s a tough situation. On one hand, you have the sweet, heartwarming dynamic that draws viewers in. On the other, you have the nagging feeling that the story isn’t quite expanding beyond that central relationship. Is it just me, or is that a common pitfall for romance-centric anime? They focus so much on the ‘will they, won’t they’ that they forget to build a world or develop supporting characters. Well, at least the reviewer is being honest. And if Miyu and Tani are indeed the only good part, then perhaps this ‘polar opposite’ dynamic is more of a stumbling block than a charming quirk.
"So the cute couple can't carry the show? Shocker. I suppose I'll keep watching... just to confirm my suspicions, of course. Not because I care." — The Tsundere Critic
