Honestly, another announcement about casting for 'The Ogre's Bride'? Big surprise. I suppose it’s good that they’re getting some big names in there – Manaka Iwami, Ryōta Ōsaka, Sayaka Senbongi, and Natsuki Hanae are certainly no slouches. Doesn't mean I'm suddenly going to start caring if this ogre is going to get his bride or not, but at least the audio will probably sound decent. Hopefully, they're not just phoning it in.
It's always the same song and dance, isn't it? Reveal a bit of footage, announce a few more people you vaguely recognize, and then repeat until the premiere date. I’m not here for manufactured hype, but I’ll admit, this lineup does make me slightly less inclined to dismiss it outright. Maybe, just maybe, there’s some actual substance behind all the pretty pictures and familiar voices. Don't get me wrong, I'm not expecting Shakespeare, but a little less cliché and a little more genuine emotional connection wouldn't go amiss. Is that too much to ask?
So, yeah, four more names to add to the roster. Will they be enough to elevate 'The Ogre's Bride' from another generic fantasy offering to something worth remembering? Only time, and a whole lot of episodes, will tell. For now, I'll keep a cautious eye on this one, mostly to see if any of these voice actors can inject some much-needed personality into what could easily be another forgettable waifu-baiting project. Don't disappoint me, voice actors.
"Hmph. More cast members. I guess that means more people to potentially ruin the drama. But… maybe it won't be *completely* awful." — The Tsundere Critic
