So, the 'Maebashi Witches' got a compilation movie. Big deal. It seems like every anime these days gets some kind of movie compilation, usually to recap the story for newcomers or just cash in on the existing fanbase. They dropped a teaser trailer, which I suppose is… something. The original 12-episode series from Sunrise aired in Spring 2025, and Crunchyroll even streamed it. I remember it being… fine. Nothing groundbreaking, but it had its moments.
Now, a compilation movie. I guess this means the original story is considered complete enough to be packaged like that. And a rebroadcast starting April 5th on Tokyo MX and BS11? That’s nice for people who missed it the first time, or who just like rewatching things. The synopsis mentions a free-spirited high school girl named Yuina Akagi and her hobby. Very intriguing, I'm sure.
Look, it's not like this is going to shake the anime industry to its core. But if you enjoyed 'Maebashi Witches' the first time around, or if you're curious about a magical girl series set in Maebashi, then the compilation movie and rebroadcast might be for you. Don't expect me to be lining up for tickets, though.
"A compilation movie for 'Maebashi Witches'? I guess if you *really* liked it, that's something. For everyone else, it's just… more 'Maebashi Witches'." — The Tsundere Critic
