Oh, great. Another live-action adaptation. Honestly, I wasn't expecting much, but Deadline is reporting that Shioli Kutsuna, who you might know from *Deadpool*, is reportedly set to join the cast of the live-action Gundam film. Whatever. It’s set to start filming in Australia in April, so I guess they're actually doing it.
I'm not going to pretend I'm thrilled about this. Live-action anime adaptations are usually a mess, a cynical cash grab that butchers beloved properties. But, and I stress this, *but*, Kutsuna is a decent actress. Maybe she can salvage something from this inevitable disaster. I don't know if she'll be piloting a Mobile Suit or, more likely, playing some generic supporting role. It hardly matters, does it?
Still, the sheer audacity of trying to translate the giant robot spectacle of Gundam into live-action is… something. I'll probably watch it out of morbid curiosity, but don't expect me to be a fan. It's probably going to be full of clunky dialogue and CGI that hasn't aged well by the time it even comes out. But hey, at least they cast someone with a bit of talent. I guess.
"Gundam live-action? Whatever. As long as Kutsuna doesn't mess it up *too* badly, I guess I won't hate it." — The Tsundere Critic
