Alright, fine, 'Hirayasumi' is getting an anime. And yes, it's scheduled for January 2027. Production +h. is handling the animation, and Kei Suezawa, who's been involved with the 'Fate/Grand Order' series, is directing. They've released a teaser, which, I guess, gives you an idea of what to expect. It's a slice-of-life manga, so don't expect any epic mecha battles or anything of that sort. This is more the quiet, introspective type of story.
The staff list also includes some familiar names, though honestly, I'm more interested in whether the actual storytelling will be compelling or just another generic "cozy" experience. They've revealed the main staff, which is standard procedure for these announcements. It's all very professional and by-the-book. My concern is that these kinds of adaptations can sometimes lose the subtle charm of the original manga, or worse, try to inject unnecessary drama where it doesn't belong.
So, while the announcement itself is noteworthy for fans of the manga, my expectations are... tempered. We'll have to see if the execution lives up to the potential. It's airing on NHK, which can be a good sign for quality, but ultimately, it's the content that matters. Let's just hope it's not another one of those series that tries too hard to be heartwarming and ends up being bland.
"A slice-of-life anime. *Sigh*. I suppose it could be worse. At least it's not another generic battle shonen. I guess. Don't expect me to get excited though." — The Shonen Hype-Man
