Look, I'm not going to pretend I'm eagerly anticipating another slow-burn, "feel-good" anime, but the announcement for the 'Hirayasumi' adaptation is... there. Apparently, Production +h. is handling this one, and Kei Suezawa, who did some work on 'Fate/Grand Order: Shinsei Entaku Ryouiki Camelot - Wandering; Agateram,' is directing. As if that's supposed to impress me. They've also released a teaser promo, which, fine, it shows *something*, but don't expect me to get all misty-eyed about it. It's a slice-of-life manga, so what are we even expecting here? Big plot twists? Shouting matches? Probably not.
This is all very standard stuff, really. A manga gets adapted, they reveal the staff, they show a clip. Big whoop. I suppose Naoyuki Asano is on character design, which... well, it's him, so it's probably going to *look* fine. But that doesn't guarantee any actual substance, does it? January 2027 is still a ways off, giving them plenty of time to churn out something that's perfectly mediocre and will be forgotten by spring.
Honestly, I'll probably end up watching it out of sheer boredom, and maybe, just maybe, there'll be one or two moments that don't make me want to gouge my eyes out. But don't quote me on that. It's a slice-of-life, after all. The real drama is in whether or not I can find something genuinely interesting to say about it.
"Hmph. A slice-of-life anime with a teaser. Whatever. I'm sure it'll be fine. Probably. Don't look at me like that!" — The Tsundere Critic
