Another heavy knight, another isekai. *Sigh*. At least this one, 'The Exiled Heavy Knight Knows How to Game the System,' is apparently premiering on July 2nd with a rather ambitious continuous two-part run. I'm all for efficiency, but let's hope they don't rush the plot just to get it all out there. The main trailer just dropped, giving us a peek at what I assume will be an endless cycle of acquiring overpowered skills and charming an entire harem. No surprises there.
This series boasts a cast including Takeo Ōtsuka, Shion Wakayama, and Natsuko Abe. Which, sure, are names. The real question is whether their characters will have any depth beyond 'protagonist who is secretly the best' or 'female lead who inexplicably falls for the protagonist's blandness.' I'm not holding my breath for groundbreaking dialogue, but a well-executed power fantasy isn't the worst way to spend an afternoon, I guess.
So, July 2nd. Try not to get your hopes too high. If it turns out to be a cleverly written commentary on game mechanics and societal systems, I might be pleasantly surprised. But more likely, it'll be more of the same. Still, a two-part debut? That's… something. I'll be watching. For research purposes. Obviously.
"A heavy knight gaming the system? Sounds suspiciously like someone trying too hard to be clever. I'll be keeping my expectations low, thank you very much." — The Tsundere Critic
