So, there’s this massive Evangelion exhibition. Apparently, they’ve got a giant Unit-01 chilling there, which, fine, it’s a giant robot, I guess that’s mildly impressive. But 26 CRT TVs? Are they trying to give me a seizure or just remind me of the good old days of static? It’s a bit much, even for Evangelion.
And a VR experience? Great. Now people can *virtually* experience the crushing despair of being a teenage pilot. I’m sure that’s exactly what everyone wanted. The 'art and tech' angle sounds fancy, but let's be real, it’s just another excuse for hardcore fans to drool over props and reminisce about their broken psyches. Don't get me wrong, the effort is… noted.
Still, if you’re into that sort of thing – and by 'that sort of thing' I mean meticulously crafted displays of mechanical angst – then this might be worth your time. Just try not to get too attached to that Unit-01; it’s probably programmed to self-destruct after the exhibition closes.
"A giant robot and old TVs. How… original. I suppose it’s better than another bland convention panel." — The Tsundere Critic
